About this event

Hobbies • Photography

Each Composition in the Field class begins with a talk with one of our experienced instructors, and then you and your fellow students take a stroll through one of a variety of photogenic locales (in any of the 20+ cities the DPA encapsulates). There is street photography, magnificent interiors, farmers markets, zoos, landscapes, and more, photos of which are included within. These photos are a mix of student and instructor images in many different venues and cities across the United States and Canada.

You will have fun in the 2 hour session, learn to shoot strategically, get more interesting photos of the event, and walk away with a foundation to improve your photographs in the future, whether you’re traveling, or at a birthday party and everywhere in between.

Venue Description:

The Ledges in Ohio are areas of massive boulders, deposited here when glaciers retreated from the last ice age, creating one of the most unique landscapes in the state. Nestled between Cleveland and Akron, just west of Hudson, this stunning park offers endless inspiration for photographers. If you are interested in composition and landscape photography, this is the place for you. Your Digital Photo Academy instructor will lead you through hidden valleys, stone staircases, and trees with roots anchored deep into bare rock. You’ll learn how to work with woodland light and capture sweeping panoramas. If you’re looking for a nature shoot with a focus on composition, this is the class for you.

You’ll also find a wide variety of composition and lighting possibilities at the Ledges! Beyond the rock formations, there are several other beautiful spots nearby—a historic bridge, a marsh, and more. The Beaver Marsh, just down the road, has been designated an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society and frequently provides views of herons, swallows, ducks, geese, swans, and sometimes even migrating warblers. It’s one of the area’s favorite spots for nature photography.

Meeting Spot:

We will meet at the Ledges Shelter inside Virginia Kendall Ledges Park. This spot has picnic tables and a covered area, making it an ideal place for our opening discussion about camera settings and composition before we head out to practice in the park.

Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231 or a field agent at 917 597 7053. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number. It would be even better if you included your email address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering. If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at DPAbooking@digitalphotoacademy.com and include the date and city of the class you are considering, as well as your phone number .
