Please RSVP by Thursday, October 30.
Background: This is a time of unimaginable change, spurring intense and complex feelings for many—including those of grief and anxiety. Studies have shown that a simple act of kindness towards others can improve mental health. During this Compassion in Action event, Compassionate Atlanta, alongside The Sandwich Project, provides an opportunity for members of our community to stand shoulder to shoulder and serve our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Who can attend? Any community member, including CDC staff (past and present), first responders, and anyone else who may need extra compassion during a difficult time.
What would I be doing? Help to assemble sandwiches for our local community members experiencing food insecurity.
Come as you are, at your convenience, during the event. No need to bring anything other than yourselves. You can drop by for a few minutes or the full two hours to assemble sandwiches and mingle with others. Suggested donation $5; all donations will go towards purchasing sandwich supplies, fresh whole fruit, or soft chew granola bars for our community.
A few rules:
- For the safety of others around you and those who are receiving sandwiches, please do not attend if you are feeling sick.
- Please tie back long hair for food safety purposes.
- You will be asked to wash your hands and wear gloves prior to sandwich assembly.
Location: Briarcliff Woods Beach Clubhouse; 1830 Morris Landers Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30345.
