Nalanda Institute’s Compassion-Based Resilience Training (CBRT) is a complete, evidence-based training in stress-reduction and self-healing developed and tested at the university hospitals of Columbia and Cornell, where it has been offered continuously since 1998.


CBRT is ideal for anyone looking to manage stress, build psychological resilience, enhance relationships, and cultivate greater compassion for themselves and others – no prior meditation experience required.


Program Overview

Weeks 1-5: Mindfulness-Based Personal Healing :

· Introduction – Learn the core concepts and gain a deeper understanding of the training

· Module I – Embracing Suffering with Body Mindfulness

· Module II – Stopping Reactive Habits with Mindful Sensitivity

· Module III – Breaking Free of Stress with Mindful Awareness

· Module IV – Mindful Insight: The Lifelong Path of Self-Healing

Weeks 6-9: Compassion-Based Relational Healing :

· Module V – Disarming Social Stress and Bias with Equal Empathy

· Module VI – Healing Reactive Emotions and Beliefs with Self-Compassion

· Module VII – Cultivating Prosocial Emotions with Wise Give and Take

· Module VIII – Embodying a Resilient Self and Life with Caring Imagery

This course is taught by Firdevs Burcak, Ph.D., certified Level II CBRT Teacher.

Dr. Burcak is a scientist and educator specializing in early childhood education, nature-based learning, and psychological resilience. She has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters on these topics.

Dr. Burcak’s passion for learning and teaching, coupled with her dedication to scientific research, extends beyond the field of early childhood education, inspiring her to reach broader audiences and help them discover their own potential. In line with this vision, she completed the Compassion-Based Resilience Teacher Training led by scientist and psychiatrist Dr. Joe Loizzo. Through this training, she empowers individuals to manage stress and find profound meaning and purpose in their lives.
