About this event

Compass Connections Long-Term Foster Care Orientation

Join us for an online orientation to learn more about our long-term foster care program! Whether you're interested in becoming a foster parent or just want to know more, this event is for you.

The youth that we serve are unaccompanied immigrant and refugee youth from all over the world! We see kids from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Guinea and more. Generally, they come into our care at the age of 12-17, sometimes even younger, and we help equip them with life skills, a loving home, normalcy and prepare them for life in the U.S. Unlike domestic foster care, where placements can be short-term, our placements can last years. We work with the Office of Refugee and Resettlement and State Licensing (DFPS) to provide these kiddos an opportunity at life here in America and also keep their Bio Parents/Family in Home Country (if available) informed of their case, clinical and legal progress. We also help the kids reunify with family and friends that can care for them here.

Organized by

Compass Connections partners with state and federal government agencies to match caring adults with children in need. These children are placed in foster homes because they have suffered abuse, neglect or other issues in their biological families that endanger their safety.

The number of children in the foster care system supersedes the amount of caring and supportive homes available. Compass Connections is actively seeking families who can rise to the challenge to provide children and youth with care, love and a safe place to call home. Serving Dallas, Fort Worth and the surrounding areas in Texas.
