Community Wellbeing Mentor Training

Location: UF Field & Fork Farm and Gardens (Parking is free for this event. Details on parking and event location will be provided with reminder email two days before the event.)

UF Mindfulness, in collaboration with Dr. Carol Lewis and the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic, is offering a workshop designed to increase community wellbeing and emotional health by training community members to be Community Wellbeing Mentors (CWMs) in their communities, organizations, social circles, and/or churches. Mindfulness and other present-moment awareness practices are included in this toolkit.

The CWM training includes:

• 1 ½ hour training session followed by a half hour for Q&A

• materials

• skills training including focused breathing, grounding, and healthy lifestyle habits

After the CWM training, CWMs are encouraged to meet with community members in their social circles, community organizations, and/or churches and provide education and mentorship about these strategies for wellbeing.

Clinical psychologist and UF Mindfulness member Carol Lewis, PhD MPH is the facilitator and developer of this project. Her contact information is: carollewis@ufl.edu.
