Accelerate Climate Solutions is an approved Illinois Shines Designee, providing marketing, sales, and solar subscriber sign-up for Green Energy Justice Cooperative (GEJC.org). GEJC, an Illinois Shines Approved Vendor, is a community-driven community solar cooperative serving DuPage County ComEd customers. The two solar arrays on warehouses in Aurora will supply electricity to 800 households in DuPage. Low and moderate income families can sign-up with a one-time fee of just $5 and see a guaranteed savings of 20% on their energy charge on their ComEd bill over the course of a year. The membership fee for all other households is just $25; these members will never pay more for electricity than they would with ComEd, with a goal of also saving up to 20% on the energy charge. To get started, visit GEJC.org and click the “Am I Eligible?” button. After that, you’ll need to provide a copy of your ComEd bill, sign a couple of documents, and then start saving in early 2026. Whether you’re a renter, live in a condo, or own your home, if you live in DuPage and pay a ComEd bill, you qualify.

Frequently asked questions

Can I join if I'm not a low-income household?

Yes! We offer different membership tiers to ensure everyone can participate while maintaining our focus on serving low- to moderate-income communities.

I’m a renter or live in an apartment, can I still qualify?

Yes! No solar panels have to be installed on your home, so anyone can sign up.

What is a cooperative and why did you choose this model?

A cooperative is a member-owned and democratically controlled organization. We chose this model because it ensures that the benefits of clean energy directly serve our community members, who have full voting rights and shared ownership in our projects.

What's the difference between a membership and a solar subscription?

Membership makes you a part-owner of the cooperative with voting rights and profit-sharing benefits. Solar subscription is a separate program that allows members to receive credits on their electric bills. You must be a member to subscribe to solar, but membership alone doesn’t automatically enroll

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. Your membership fee is refundable if you choose to cancel your membership with the cooperative.

How many people from my household need to join?

Only one person per household needs to become a member (the “owner-member”) to enable the household to participate in solar subscription.
