In Right Idea, Right Time, Rick Outzen tells the story of how a divided Pensacola came together to rally behind a transformative vision—the Community Maritime Park. From grassroots organizing to political deals, the book chronicles the drama and determination that helped shape the future of our waterfront and sparked a new chapter for our city.

This story is also part of our story. Pensacola Young Professionals was founded in 2006 during the movement to support the Maritime Park. Born out of a desire for young professionals to have a stronger voice in their community, PYP became an active force in shaping the future of Pensacola—and it all began with this pivotal project.

Come hear directly from Rick Outzen as he shares behind-the-scenes insights from the book, answers your questions, and signs copies of Right Idea, Right Time. Whether you remember the campaign firsthand or are new to the story, this is a can't-miss opportunity to learn about the grassroots movement that shaped our city—and the legacy that continues today.

Let's celebrate our history, reflect on how far we've come, and reignite the spirit of progress for the next generation of changemakers.
