One of the most important activities that the National LGBT Federation engages in is community research. In recent years, we have produced several research projects including Burning Issues, Burning Issues 2, Far From Home: Life as an LGBT+ Migrant in Ireland and Safeguarding, Supporting, and Supervising Gender Minority Students in Institutes of Higher Education - a resource guide providing information, advice, considerations, and reference materials for the inclusion and protection of the Trans*, Non-Binary, and Gender Non-Conforming community in higher education.

We now have funding to build on this work thanks to funding from the TIDES Foundation and Google.

We want the help of Ireland's LGBT+ community to shape our upcoming research.

This event will be a facilitated brainstorm where members of the LGBT+ community in Ireland will have the chance to influence the design of the research that the National LGBT Federation carries out. If you take part, you will be able to have your say on what we focus our research on and how we recruit people to take part in this research, how we ensure that participating is accessible and inclusive and how we communicate the results. In the event, we will split into different breakout groups to work on these and related questions. Your ideas will guide how this research will be conducted.

This work will take about 2 hours and will happen online via Zoom. We have One4All vouchers for all participants as a token of gratitude for their work. This event will NOT be recorded.

This brainstorm will focus specifically on designing a study of public attitudes towards the LGBT+ community and relevant policies. This study addresses the following outcome of the National LGBTI Inclusion Strategy: "Establish a baseline of public attitudes and acceptance of LGBTI+ identities through a National Survey".
