About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Let’s talk community-building, for real. From ideation to implementation, take the first step in building something extraordinary together at ThirdSpace. The inaugural ThirdSpace Community Innovation Lab workshop will be held in two (2), three (3)-hour sessions.

This ThirdSpace Lab workshop will be focused on taking anyone with an idea for creating an impact in their community from ideation to implementation. It will cover defining your community and issue area, structuring the first steps to action, and how to turn that into an ongoing and sustainable initiative. This workshop will be helpful for people who want to run a program at ThirdSpace or take their idea for change out into the world.

In the first part of this two-part workshop, we’ll cover everything you need to know about how to start a Community-Based Initiative. Focusing on how to formulate your idea, working on an initial framework, and networking with local changemakers. Bring any tools you may find useful, pens and paper suggested.

The second part will be a working session focused on building and communicating your idea–that day! This is a closed session, you must have attended the first session to attend the second. This will be a practical workshop focused on sketching out an early pathway to implementation. We’re going to start small, with a plan to build. We’ll cover early budgeting, identifying resources needed, and sustaining your initiative over the long-haul.

ThirdSpace Lab will be facilitated by Toby Garcia, an advisor to the ThirdSpace Founding team. Originally from Las Vegas, and living in New York City since 2019, Toby is an experienced community builder with a background spanning government, community organizing, social enterprise development, and curating entrepreneurship ecosystems the world over. He has run large-scale political campaigns, supported hundreds of early-stage entrepreneurs launch social enterprises globally, and currently works with a portfolio of high-growth Science and Technology Venture Accelerators as well as building the nation’s largest Global Entrepreneurship in Residence programs.
