Join us for a Community Forest Festival! This event will bring tree lovers from across Hawaiʻi to engage with community forests. An interactive musical collaboration between Kaulunani Artists in Residence will headline this event. Bring your picnic lunch, and your family and friends, to appreciate all our community forests provide and activate care for our collective well-being.

The Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program of the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources, Divison of Forestry and Wildlife and many partners are teaming up to host this event and celebrate a successful 2025 Year of Our Community Forests campaign. Opportunities include (while supplies last!):

  • Engage with artists demonstrating their work with tree materials (lei making, woodworking, lauhala & niu weaving).
  • Groove along with live musical performances led by Kaulunani’s Artist in Residence Takuma Itoh, using repurposed urban wood and tree materials.
  • Sample tasty bites of mea ʻai sourced from community agroforests.
  • Watch demonstrations on tree care and enjoy the diverse flora of Foster Botanical Garden
  • Keiki art spotlight: Student animation showcase; We❤️Trees! keiki art contest - View the 2025 grade level winners and be inspired by these works highlighting the many benefits by students in grades K through 8

Waived admission spots are limited! Pre-register here under "General Admission" for free admission to Foster Botanical Garden and this event.

Walk-ins welcome with standard Foster admission fees (Hawaiʻi Residents: $3, Adults: $5; Children 6-12: $1; Children under 5: Free; Annual Family Pass: $25). Or, reserve a "Pay at the door" ticket to receive event reminders and be added to the waitlist for waived admission if spots open up.
