Community Day
Overview
Free parking & admission.
Open house style - visit anytime on Sundays between 10-2. Join us as you tour the facility, including Shellmaker trail, teaching lab, aquatic lab, and touch tanks. Learn about the Back Bay Science Center's Educational Programs and how you can get more involved.
Located near the osprey nest, you will find Newport Bay Conservancy’s Native Plant Nursery. Our nursery cultivates native California plants, which plays a crucial role in habitat restoration in Upper Newport Bay. Come on by to check out what's growing! Interested in getting your hands dirty? Go to NBCSowandGrow.eventbrite.com to learn when you can participate in seed collection, sowing, and weeding activities.
Public Animal Feeding occurs between 12-1pm. Get your questions answered about our live animals and learn about their environment and behaviors.
We love our furry family members but dogs and other pets are not allowed this time due to endangered bird activity.
Join us by bike! There are bike racks in the back of the building by the touch tanks. Please do not ride your bike on the trails on the island.
NOTE: This is not a volunteer event. You will not be able to receive volunteer service hours for attending Community Day. However, sometimes our team is in the Native Plant Nursery on Sundays. Check when and sign up to join them at the Sow & Grow link above!
