CSULB researchers invite you to participate in a 40-minute “data walk”  in West Long Beach to observe and comment on smart technologies

Date: 7/1/2021 Times: We are offering the data walk in three different waves. You can only sign up and get tickets for one wave8:30am – 10am (Session 1)10:30am – 12pm (Session 2)12:30pm – 2pm (Session 3)Make sure you indicate which session you will be attending.Location: Winchell’s Donuts (corner of Santa Fe and PCH)Please look for parking in one of the neighboring small streets.CSULB researchers invite you to participate in a 40-minute “data walk” that encompasses a mix of residential streets, a commercial corridor and a city park in West Long Beach to observe and comment on the smart technologies we pass daily. Prior to the walk, study participants will download a smart phone app with functions enabling them to map any technologies they observe, photograph them, and answer a few questions about their comfort levels with each technology. Following the walk, researchers will facilitate a participant “debriefing” to learn more about Long Beach residents’ attitudes toward smart technologies and privacy concerns. The data will inform and support recommendations for privacy policies the City of Long Beach can integrate into future smart technology deployments.Participants will receive a $25 Target gift card. Requirements:- 18 years or older- Long Beach residency- Possession of a smart phone or tabletPlease wear comfortable walking shoes.Participation is limited, so please RSVP if you are interested.
