About the Series
The Community Conversations Series focuses on current topics that are presented by experts in their fields to engage in dialogue with community members.
The theme of Community Conversations for the 2022-2023 academic year is global citizenship. The lectures this year will focus on identity, culture, geographic borders, immigration, elections, and community. The lectures will be 1 hour and held on Zoom. (The Zoom link will be sent to participant's registered email address the week of the event.) For Spring 2023, one session (March 22) will be held in person at Goodwin University. The other sessions will remain online.
Each panel will be moderated by Dr. Lisa M. Wisniewski, Associate Professor of Sociology at Goodwin University.

Session 1- Work in the Digital Era

Presented By: Dr. Sviatlana Kroitar, Associate Fellow at the Polish Institute of Advanced Studies
Overview: This session will focus on the transformations in labor and employment in the digital age. The session will be focused on how digitalization changes work institutions and labor environment, labor practices and employment patterns, business algorithms and organizational models, corporate communication and culture, labor relations and management, work efficiency evaluation and work-life balance.

Session 2- What Does Health Mean in a Global Context?

Overview: This session will focus on health within a global context. The session will be focused on OneHealth, a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to optional care of people, animals, and the environment. The speakers will engage in discussion about the interconnected and interdependent system of global health.

Session 3- "Don't Look Up" Film Review (In Person)

Presented By: Dr. Brian Dixon , Associate Professor of English at Goodwin University and Dr. Randy Laist, Professor of English at Goodwin University
Overview: This session will focus on a movie review of the film “Don’t Look Up.” The film follows two astronomers on their journey to warn the world of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth. The speakers will review themes of political engagement, citizenship, and the digital age.
