Join the next session of the Community Ambassador Program to learn about the services offered by the Howard County Health Department and Grassroots Crisis Intervention.

The Howard County Health Department bureaus and programs strive to make Howard County a community in which health equity and optimal wellness are accessible for all who live, work and visit. Health department staff includes medical personnel, social workers, counselors, nutritionists, environmental health inspectors, as well as, administrative, clerical, fiscal and facilities staff. Staff physically work in the central office, in clinics and out in the community including neighborhoods, schools, construction sites, restaurants and more.

Grassroots Crisis Intervention is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization serving Howard County and Central Maryland, funded by Howard County Government, State and Federal Grants, private foundations, and contributions from individuals, community groups, the faith community, and local businesses. Grassroots provides free 24-hour crisis intervention, mental health, substance use disorder, housing support and suicide prevention services. This includes a free crisis hotline, responses to 988 calls/chats/texts (Maryland and nationally), a free 24-hour substance use disorder stabilization program, a family and individual emergency shelter and Howard County’s Mobile Crisis Response.
