Healthcare staff work in a very demanding, stressful and sometimes understaffed environment. Pay can often be an issue. Many things are not within a manager’s control to change. However, what leaders can change is the way they engage with their team so that they can build strong positive elements into a challenging environment.
Many managers say they respect, appreciate and value their good workers and they regularly let their staff know this. However, many employees share they don’t get much appreciation or recognition and often feel disrespected! How can this be?
There are several common reasons:
- The manager may think good thoughts about their employees, but doesn’t actually say them out loud.
- The manager is showing respect and appreciation in the ways they know best, and these are not landing well with the employees.
- The manager is suffering from the toxic work culture as well, and abdicates their leadership role and fails to support their team.
The focus of the program will be on understanding differences in communication styles, and how managers can adapt their communication to be more effective with their team. We will look at how these changes can improve morale and retention with review of workplace examples/scenarios that illustrate these strategies.
TRAINER: Alan Krieger, TEAM Communication Style
BONUS FOR PARTICIPATION!
Prior to the training, participants will be asked to complete a short assessment and will receive a personalized report explaining their communication style. This will help you better understand your communication style and identify the communiation styles of those you work with. It will help explain why you get along well with some, while with others you may have more difficulty communicating. This report will be discussed in depth during the program.
Follow up sessions will be held in November (via zoom) to share how techniques have been implemented, how it has impacted your team and discuss any barriers that may have arisen with implementation or additional questions that participants may have.
