The Igbo Cultural Association of Edmonton invites you to be part of an inspiring community conversation themed:
“Common Misconceptions of Marriage in the Diaspora.”

This community workshop creates a safe and open space for honest conversations about love, relationships, and marriage among people living in the diaspora. It explores how cultural expectations, generational differences, and new societal realities shape the way we understand and experience marriage today.

Through a dynamic panel discussion featuring couples and individuals at different stages of their marital journey, those newly married, long-term partners, and young adults preparing for marriage, the session aims to challenge common misconceptions, share practical insights, and promote understanding across generations.

The workshop also highlights the importance of passing down the wisdom and positive experiences of our elders to younger generations, ensuring that cultural values of respect, commitment, and communication continue to strengthen families and community life.

Supported by the Government of Canada under the New Horizons for Seniors Program, this event invites participants to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue about what it truly takes to build and sustain healthy relationships in the diaspora.
