Overview

Join us for a ceremonial performance and musical offering led by Tiombé Lockhart, dedicated to remembering the benevolent ancestors

Coming Forth by Day” is a ceremonial performance and musical offering led by Tiombé Lockhart, dedicated to remembering the benevolent ancestors and invoking the wisdom that moves through their lineage. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Egyptian Book of Coming Forth by Day (commonly known as the Book of the Dead), this event is envisioned as a living ritual and a bridge between past and present, body and spirit, sound and silence.

Through music, invocation, and communal reflection, the evening invites participants to awaken ancestral memory, reclaim inner fire, and step into renewed spiritual awareness.

The evening will open as a ceremony with drums, libations, and audience participation, grounding the space in collective intention.

This will flow into a musical set (30–45 minutes) performed by Lockhart with live instrumentation of drums, bass, and keyboard.

Following the performance, a discussion and reflection will explore the spiritual and symbolic framework behind the work, including the imagery and mythic themes that shape its visual and sonic landscape.

The iconography surrounding Coming Forth by Day draws from African spiritual traditions, esoteric teachings, and divine feminine archetypes:

  • The Seven Goddess:: embodying the seven stages or archetypes of kundalini awakening.
  • The Crescent Moon Boat:: symbol of emotional mastery, transformation, and new beginnings; a vessel like Noah’s Ark crossing into a new world.
  • The Kemetic Tree of Life and the qabbalah :: through the image of the primordial mothers and the divine map of ascent.

Ticket Price: $10-$25 Sliding Scale (in person only event)

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Tiombé Lockhart is a Los Angeles-based experimental soul singer who has worked with Bilal, Robert Glasper, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Toy Selectah, contributed to PPP’s classic record Triple P with Jay Dilla & Sa Ra and countless other artists.

Lockhart showed prodigal talent at an early age, even singing for Nelson Mandela’s homecoming. She honed her skills in vocal jazz performance at The New School University and went on to tour throughout the world. She discovered a love of video directing and editing which granted her more creative autonomy and prowess in 2010.

In 2013 Tiombé began her healing journey by studying transcendental meditation and later on became a Reiki master. In 2020 she gave birth at home at the start of quarantine. This intense initiation propelled her into writing and producing Coming Forth By Day featuring Georgia Anne Muldow, eCUSSOONIST, Computer Jay, Aliyah Devaugh and visually creating her Coming Forth By Day cover inspired by the Kemetic Tree of Life, the Hermetic Qabalah and the primordial mothers. Released Oct 21, 2025 on Italian based record label, Mother Tongue.
