Com Gia Dinh Cookbook Launch: A Vietnamese Anthology of Stories and Recipes

On behalf of the Vietnamese American Roundtable (VAR), we are excited to invite you to the launch of our Cơm Gia Đình Anthology Cookbook on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Alma Community Center (136 W Alma Ave, San Jose, CA 95110).. 

The literal translation of Cơm Gia Đình is family meal, which represents two central pillars in Vietnamese identity: food and family. The family meal encompasses far more than the food itself; it includes the stories, conversations, and moments of connection that unfold around the dinner table. The Cơm Gia Đình Anthology Cookbook captures these moments in a collection of recipes and stories representing over fifty years since the Vietnamese community first established roots in the United States. 

Through this anthology, we hope to share glimpses of personal experiences of the Vietnamese American families that resettled in the Bay Area and celebrate the nourishing moments that have shaped our Vietnamese American community.
