Sharpen your rangeland inventory & planning skills on the 103,000 acre Medano-Zapata Ranch. Ranchlands, a ranch management company owned by Duke Phillips of Chico Basin Ranch, has managed the M-Z Ranch since 2004 in a one of a kind partnership with The Nature Conservancy. The M-Z is home to two bison herds: one is run for purposes of species conservation in a 50,000 acre pasture, and the other is managed under a deferred-rotational strategy. The ranch offers programs that draw guests to the ranch to learn about ranching, conservation and nature. This will provide an excellent learning opportunity about this highly diversified ranching enterprise that is managed based on ecologically sustainable principles.
Cory Off is pleased to share his views on pasture management and how he has achieved effective communications and built relationships to successfully manage conflict. Learn about Wet Meadow ecological sites managed with high intensity short duration grazing strategies. The ranch also runs on a USFS allotment administered by the Rio Grande NF that is integrated with the management of Cory’s deeded land.
