Join Nine Network and the Alliance for Higher Education in Prison in welcoming award-winning filmmaker Lynn Novick, whose film credits with Ken Burns include The Vietnam War, Prohibition, The War, and Jazz, for a preview and discussion of her upcoming series College Behind Bars, premiering this November on Nine PBS.
College Behind Bars explores the transformative power of education through the eyes of incarcerated men and women trying to earn college degrees and turn their lives around in one of the most rigorous and effective prison education programs in the United States – the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI).
After the screening, Novick will be joined by formerly incarcerated BPI alums featured in the film to discuss the series and the issue of education in prisons.
