Affectionately known as DC’s Hat Lady, Vanilla Beane (1919-2022) spent a lifetime creating intricate, one-of-a-kind toppers for prominent local and national figures. For over forty years, her shop in the Manor Park neighborhood served as a hub of fashion and community. Join us for a discussion with painter Benjamin Ferry, who created a portrait of Ms. Beane now in the museum’s collection.
