Frequently asked questions

What is social programming?

Social programming is an approach to programming where two persons (called a pair) or more (called an ensemble or a 'mob') work in a collaborative fashion on the same problem, at the same time, in the same (possibly virtual) space using the same computer.

Do I need to be an experienced developer to show up?

We welcome developers of all levels! And, while you are likely to get the most out of the experience if you do already have at least some experience coding, we have witnessed complete non-coders learn and have a blast - and begin learning to code - as a result of choosing to attend.

Do I need to install a compiler or any sort of code editor or IDE?

The default approach for sessions will use Cyber Dojo (cyber-dojo.org), which will provide many different compilers to us, and act as our editor - all through your web browser!
