Co-Parent Like Pros - Teamwork and Communication Skills with Horses

Looking to bring more spark, connection, and laughter into your parenting journey? Join us for a one-of-a-kind Workshop with Horses—a day in nature designed to help you strengthen your bond, improve communication, and align your goals. Horses are relationship experts and they way they parent??? Wow. They are effortless in their leadership and you can be too. .

This isn’t your average workshop—it’s more like a adventure. With the help of our gentle, intuitive horses (no riding required), you’ll take part in playful, hands-on activities and thoughtful conversations that bring you together. No trust falls or high wires—just real moments of connection, guided by experienced facilitators who know how to make it both powerful and playful.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your connection, smooth out communication bumps, or simply share a meaningful experience, this day is for you.

Can’t convince your co-parent to come? That’s okay—bring a friend! You might know someone in the same boat. One parent can make a big difference in a family, and you'll gain powerful insights from the horses and conversations.

Don’t miss this opportunity to invest in your family and create lasting memories.

To apply, purchase tickets here and we’ll follow up with a link to schedule a quick 15–20 minute discovery call.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is designed to serve parents, whether married or not. Whether you are a new blended family couple or old hats at this parenting thing, connection must be nurtured. LGBTQ+ identified families are most welcome.

What if we are fighting?

All families go through challenging times, and we all know the challenges of communication while living our full lives. But for parents at a crisis point or considering divorce, this is not the workshop for you. We like to think of this day as proactively nurturing your connection & communication.

Who are the facilitators and how are they qualified?

We are Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT and AMFT) who are both certified in equine assisted therapy and learning. With a combined experience of 45 years, half of that in the equine assisted world, we have helped hundreds of families shift gears and begin to thrive in entirely new ways.

Why Horses?

Horses are intuitive animals that can mirror human emotions, providing real-time feedback on your non-verbal cues. This interaction helps participants improve their self-awareness and emotional understanding, key components of emotional intelligence.

How many parents will be in the workshop?

We are planning to have 4-8 pairs, so it's a small and intimate group. We will work at times in the whole group, but often we will break off into pairs and take individual time to process and explore.

What should I wear?

We meet in a pasture with uneven footing. Be prepared to hike a bit, including uphill. Remember to wear layers that don't mind horsehair, and closed, dirt-friendly shoes (such as sneakers or hiking boots,) and hiking sticks if you like. We also recommend a water bottle and sunhat.

Where the heck is this happening?

We have two facilities for Heart and Mind Equine. They are both a 15-20 minute drive from downtown San Rafael, one in Woodacre and the other on San Antonio Road and the 101 freeway, at the northern edge of Novato. The size of the group will determine the location.

What if I have some physical or mobility limitations?

Let's talk. The horse corrals are on uneven ground with gravel, trees, tall grass, and possibly hilly areas. We can accommodate and support some mobility limitations, but it's a different experience. For this reason, we would like to chat and decide together if it's a good fit.

What if my co-parent won't come?

That is actually fine. But, you will need to bring a friend. Perhaps you know someone who would like to attend but also has a reluctant partner. You can learn a lot from the horses and discussions. We believe one parent can implement great change, but it's always easier when both people try.

Do you have any financial aid?

Proceeds from this event supports our horse rescue and sanctuary (the horses you will meet.) We have limited partial scholarships, and we would like you to know that the stated price is the one that covers the costs. If you are experiencing financial crisis or challenge right now, please email us.
