    Classroom teachers and building administrators often find themselves in situations where relatability and student connections are a struggle. Susanna Post, 2021 Arkansas Teacher of the Year, shares her story of self-discovery and how she was able to use her classroom activities, climate, and culture to build lasting and impactful relationships with all students. She how she was able to raise the bar for students who did not think it possible to succeed and offer support and guidance in academics as well as social-emotional skills, grit, and resiliency.

    Learning Intentions:

    • Participants will have an improved understanding of the importance of empathy in building relationships and improving student achievement.
    • Participants will be better able to address empathy gaps.
    • Participants will have an improved ability to apply knowledge to a problem of practice. Participants will improve networking for collaborative problem-solving.
