About this event

Community • Other

🌿 The Philadelphia community welcomes the Tezhuna 🌿

The Tezhuna, an indigenous group from the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Colombia, journey to Philadelphia to share their ancient unbroken wisdom and powerful healing ceremonies. Embrace this rare and honorable opportunity to connect directly with Tezhuna leaders and their teachings rooted in harmony with Mother Earth.

❈ Why are they returning to Philadelphia?

In 2019, the Tezhuna visited Philadelphia for the first time in history, offering ancient wisdom, prayers, and healing for the whole region.

Now, hearing the call once more, the elders return for a deeper and longer visit:
◦•≫ to listen to how the land is doing today
◦•≫ to engage more broadly with the community
◦•≫ and to offer new ceremonies, healings, and daily practices.

This journey also supports fundraising for two sacred educational projects in the Tezhuna homeland.

❈ Event Details:

Closing Ceremony & Water Blessing

This is a pagamento (a sacred offering and healing to restore harmony) for Nature, the Delaware River, the land, our ancestors, the collective, and all individual participants.

◦•≫ Tezhuna elders will honor the Great River and close the sacred container for the visit with listening, musical resonance, and love

◦•≫ Participants can celebrate and share gratitude with the elders. Participants might be invited to play their own instruments, too

◦•≫ Note: 10/6 is a Super Full Moon, and there may be drumming all night long-- which might serve as the musical pagamento or might not, depending on energy levels after Bartram’s Garden

Finally:

Please bring whatever comforts you will need to be outside for the Full Moon ceremony, including warm clothes, and perhaps blankets or chairs.

And, while you do not need to bring other objects to support the ceremony, the Tezhuna elders do enjoy gifts of peacock feathers, white seashells, snail shells, and small crystals.

Location:
Ceremony will be on the riverfront at the Bucks County Playhouse, New Hope, PA.

❈ The Spirit of the Gift:

We want to emphasize very intentionally that the spirit of this Tezhuna visit is one of reciprocal honoring and mutual offering of gifts.

To participate in an event is to support the noble work of the Tezhuna Foundation of Sierra Nevada, as all net proceeds will go directly to the following two projects in the Tezhuna homeland of Colombia:

· 1. Youth Education & Empowerment - A special initiative to train the younger generations in the sacred, ancestral medicine practices. This project is of highest importance to empower youth to stay connected with their ancestral heritage and to control their own healing journeys. Research gathered from this project will contribute to scaling the initiative to populations outside of the Sierra Nevada.

· 2. Temple & Community Center - The construction of a new temple and community center in the Kogi tribal territory, which is the hub of educating Tezhuna spiritual elders. This project will support all generations of Tezhuna leaders to empower the strongest health and most robust spiritual and daily practices.

All gifts, including event purchases, are non-refundable.
