Clay with Your Food
Join us at Jered's Pottery for a live chef competition. Think Chef's Table meets The Great Pottery Throw Down meets Nailed It. Three brave Bay Area chefs will be put through three challenges, including preparing food in the potter's kiln at 1000 degrees fahrenheit, plating food on sculpture, and throwing on the potter's wheel.
Tickets to the event include wood-fired pizza, apps and salads by Anaviv Catering, as well as wine, beer and crafted cocktails. There will be a DJ, a "Jered's Mugshot" photobooth, and other creative audience participation opportunities.
Clay with Your Food started as a way to bring chefs out of their kitchens into an unfamiliar environment where they must depend on their craft and critical thinking. In the first challenge, the chefs have to prepare food in the kiln at 1000 degrees. The second challenge tests the chef's plating abilities and artistic flare. Jered will make a sculpture for each chef. They then have to come up with a concept and plate food on their sculpture in front of the judges and the audience.
And finally, the chefs will try their hand on the potter's wheel. They will be given ten minutes, a pottery coach, and five pounds of clay to make something to put before the judges. Many shenanigans will be had, but there can only be one Clay with Your Food Champion.
