Clay Coven Workshop
Overview
✨ Clay Coven Workshop ✨
⏰ Saturday, November 15 | 15:00-16:30
As Part of They Call Me WITCH exhibition
In this explorative clay workshop with ceramic artist and facilitator Molly Piper Greaves, you will be guided through an embodied witch creative expedition. During the session, you will be invited to envision a utopia where witches run wild and free. We will work with the clay, the earth, to create sculptural artefacts from this imagined mythological realm. We will honour witches of the past by bringing their stories into the present. What will your inner witch bring forth into the world?
Molly Piper Greaves is a multi-disciplinary artist and educator based in London. Working predominantly in ceramics, she seeks to challenge the medium - moulding and contorting the clay, the earth itself, into abstract sculptures and vessels. With a deep reverence for history, her work often explores mythology and folklore, questioning what we can learn from ancient worlds and how this knowledge might help us make sense of our modern, ever-changing one. As with many ancient societies, she honours nature through her practice, often creating works in response to the four elements and the cyclical passing of time. Always creating in connection with the land - her medium being mud, earth - her process is grounded in respect for the natural world. As a queer woman, the concept of ‘utopias’ holds great importance in her practice. She explores what her imagined worlds mean to her, and how art can become a space to dream and envision inclusive futures - worlds that welcome all people, free from the confines of binaries and societal expectations. As well as running her ceramic business, she is committed to sharing her knowledge and facilitates clay workshops for both children and adults across London.
