This atelier-style drawing course mirrors the foundational, level 1 curriculum of classical atelier programs such as Studio Incamminati, where instructor Michela Mansuino studied and currently teaches. In these progressively oriented Saturday art lessons, the fine art objective is to develop drawing and seeing skills for young artists, ranging in age from 8 – 18. The Charles Bargue Drawing Course is introduced during the second semester. The mastery of skills are —1). Successfully launching an envelope around the compositional elements in the still life arrangement2). Successfully determining the correct tilts and angles of the still life arrangement3). Successfully describing perspective in terms of the planes of the cube and the ellipsis of the circle4). Consistently separating true light from true shadow5). Consistently calibrating the value of the overall still life arrangementFirst-time students begin by learning the three important moments of the start of a drawing: 1) the envelope, 2) the separation of light from shadow, and 3) the five-value scale.
No matter what age, Michela will work with your young artist at their own level with their own personal set-up in their own space.
