Note: This class runs three Saturdays: 1/4, 1/18 and 1/25, 10am-1pm.
Learn to weave with Aurora Lindquist! In a series of three Saturday morning sessions, learn to plan a weaving project and what materials to use, warp a loom, and create your own 2’ by 4′ rug.
Impact: Scraps of fabric and used clothing are saved from the landfill.
Participant and Materials Requirements: Students will need to bring 2-3 pounds of fabric. You are welcome to bring it to the first class to see if it is appropriate, or you may shop for fabric at Ragfinery during or after the first class. You most likely won’t need fabric until the second session. Warp threads are provided.
About the Instructor: Aurora weaves professionally for True North Textiles, and also enjoys weaving in her spare time. She is especially passionate about upcycling, and thus loves weaving and teaching people how to make rag rugs and other upcycled creations.

Ragfinery is a nonprofit business that diverts unwanted textiles from the waste stream. Through our job training program, we provide transitional jobs for low income residents. We also collaborate with local artists and community volunteers to repurpose unwanted garments and textiles, and we teach valuable upcycle skills to the general public through our workshop program, encouraging creative reuse and extending the life of existing materials. Ragfinery is a project of ReUse Works.
