Claridge Nursery Tour
By NC Tree Farm Program
Overview
Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of Claridge Nursery and learn where the seedlings for your reforestation project come from.
It’s almost tree-planting season in North Carolina. Do you know where your seedlings come from?
Learn about the tree seedling production process during a tour of the N.C. Forest Service’s Claridge Nursery, which grows and distributes 15 million seedlings each year, enough to plant 30,000 acres of land.
The tour will include an overview of the seedling production process including:
- The seed orchard
- Seed extraction and planting
- Bare-root lifting
- Packing and distribution to N.C. landowners for reforestation and afforestation projects.
