CIT Role Specific Academy for Behavioral Health (March 18-19, 2026)
Overview
OVERVIEW
The intensive 2-day training will provide behavioral health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively when a consumer has involvement with the criminal justice system. The training will be conducted under the instructional supervision of local CIT-trained police officers and other criminal justice personnel. The training will offer practical information for behavioral health professionals about the complex criminal justice system. At the conclusion of the 2-day training, the participants will be able to interact effectively with various criminal justice professionals while advocating for consumers.

- Law enforcement logistics
- Limitations of an officer’s authority
- Criminal Justice Institutions
- Legal issues
- Understanding probation and parole
- Law-enforcement ride-along
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
Participants are required to attend both days AND participate in an officer ride along to receive a certificate of attendance and/or CEU's.
Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has been approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board to offer continuing education credit hours to Counselors and Social Workers (Provider #RCS111304) and has approved this training for 10.25 hours of CEUs.
Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has been approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board to offer recognized clock hours to Chemical Dependency Counselors and Prevention Professionals (Provider #50-17863) and has approved this training for 10.25 hours of CEUs for Chemical Dependency Counselors (C2).
Cost: FREE training for Montgomery County Alcohol Drug Addiction Mental Health Services provider agency staff, made possible by funds from the Montgomery County Human Services Levy.
**Montgomery County Ohio residents (or those working in the county) and those in the surrounding area will be given preference.
