CICB Changes: Listening Session
In May of 2024, Governor Moore signed into law the Victim Compensation Reform Act of 2024. The legislation addressed long-standing issues that have made it difficult for many crime victims to receive the financial support available through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB), sometimes called “victims’ comp.” You can read about these changes here.
The next phase is critical. The law takes effect on July 1, 2025, and between now and then, the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy (GOCPP)—which administers the CICB program—is revising the regulations that will guide how claims are handled across the state.
GOCPP is committed to getting implementation right. That means writing clear, workable rules that reflect the realities survivors and advocates face when navigating the process. We are holding this session to hear you, as folks with firsthand experience, about what gets in the way, what causes delays, and what changes could truly make the system more accessible and effective.
Representatives from GOCPP will be present to listen and engage. This is a space for sharing honest feedback and practical suggestions. Your insight can directly shape how these changes are carried out statewide.
There is plenty of on-street parking and a parking lot across the street. The location is also a short walk from the Symphony Light Rail Station. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
For your reference, you can review the regulations currently in effect here. Please join us to share your expertise and insights.
