7-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, October 4
Time: 10am-5pm
Description: During this 7-hour workshop, participants will each make one “chunky” large-gauge chain bracelet. This workshop will be tailored to beginning and intermediate metalsmiths, and will provide step-by-step instruction for making chain--from creating jump rings and other chain links, to soldering setups, to basic clasp design. Sawing, texturing, and finishing techniques will also be covered. Step-by-step instruction will be geared toward beginning and intermediate metalsmiths, but this workshop is also perfect for anyone interested independently developing a chain project or honing their soldering skills.
Tuition: $105 + Variable materials fee ($15 fee for brass or copper, $32 fee for silver)
Materials: All materials will be provided. Student must choose copper & brass OR silver at registration check out.
We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Kathryn Shriver is a visual artist from Western New York, now based in Pittsburgh. She uses metalwork, glass bead weaving, and the materials of home décor to explore perceptions of artistry and self-expression through the lens of her rural, working-class background. Kathryn holds an MFA in Painting & Drawing from Concordia University (Montreal). Her work has been shown across the US and Canada and she’s participated in residency programs at the Vermont Studio Center, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, and Contemporary Craft, among others.
