About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Chris Pierce gained national prominence with “We Can Always Come Back To This,” which appeared on NBC’s This Is Us, then went on to reach #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart. Pierce has headlined tours worldwide, opening for Neil Young, B.B. King, Seal, Al Green, Jill Scott, and Aaron Neville among others. His folk/Americana album, American Silence garnered critical acclaim from the likes of NPR, Rolling Stone and NoDepression. Acoustic Guitar praises the project as: “Soulful, wise and empathetic, Pierce is not afraid to make some listeners uncomfortable with American Silence.” PopMatters named American Silence the #1 Best Folk Album of 2021. “Chris Pierce is one of the most important American songwriters working today.” – Nic Harcourt, KCSN Los Angeles

At a young age, Pierce developed a rare hearing disorder called Otosclerosis that led to the loss of hearing in one ear and partial deafness in the other, a setback that would deter many young musicians forever. The reality, however, fueled his passion and determination all the more, forcing him to re-learn almost everything he had known prior to his condition. To Pierce, music was, and still is, an unconditional companion.

In addition to his solo career, Chris Pierce is a frequent radio co-host on Sirius XM’s “Prisms: the Sound of Color,” performs/records as War & Pierce (with Sunny War), and with Americana/roots band Leon Creek, and has made appearances with the Black Opry Revue. He is also a college professor, specializing in music business & songwriting, and has penned a blues opera for stage. More praise for Pierce: “I haven’t been so deeply, deeply moved by just a person and their guitar like this in a long time.” (NPR Music) “Passionate, well constructed, generously spirited protest music that can’t be ignored,” (Americana UK) “Pierce’s take on soul is heart-wrenching, achingly honest, raw and authentic.” (L.A. Weekly)
