Event description

Description

"The inspiration for the illustration was black and white images of the Chicanx protests from the 60s. The illustration then transitions to color to symbolize both the past and present. "

To improve campus life and environment for Chicanx and Latinx students and to be proactive towards the everchanging academic, financial, and personal challenges that Chicanx and Latinx students face, the Harvard-Radcliffe RAZA has committed to develop the supportive initiative of a Chicanx Conference. The conference will be named The Chicanx Renaissance: Learning from the Past and Present for the Future of Chicanx Identity and Activism. This conference’s responsibility is to establish an approach to lay out student’s concerns and needs in addition to creating a supportive environment of our complicated Chicanidad and Latinidad. This initiative will serve to comply with RAZA’s goal to help define our Mexican and Latinx roots in the American political and social context, assert our individuality, and encourage Harvard to provide greater opportunities to all Chicanxs and Latinxs students as well as faculty.

Some of these key strategies include bringing together many undergraduate colleges in the East coast and neighboring colleges; transitional workshops and small support groups; leadership development; career and internship awareness; and identity conversations.
