Join us for a hands-on training designed for volunteers and nature lovers ready to help restore the iconic American chestnut tree! This session will prepare participants to respond to chestnut inquiries submitted to our local chapter by learning how to:
Locate potential chestnut trees in the field based on submitted leads
Identify key features of American chestnuts and distinguish them from lookalike species
Collect and Report critical data, including GPS coordinates, leaf and twig samples, and tree health observations. Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or brand new to tree ID, this training will equip you with the skills and tools to support our work in tracking and documenting wild American chestnuts across the region. Your observations help scientists in their efforts to preserve this species.
