About this event

Community • County

What would you do if you had to choose between paying rent, buying groceries, or filling a prescription?

For many families in Chester County, this is daily life. The Poverty Simulation is an interactive, eye-opening experience that allows you to step into the shoes of neighbors struggling to make ends meet.

During the simulation, you’ll take on the role of a community member living with limited resources and navigate real-life challenges—decisions about employment, healthcare, housing, and more. Afterward, you’ll join a guided reflection session (with light refreshments) to share insights, connect with others, and explore solutions that can make a difference.

This program is open to all: community members, educators, students, faith groups, service providers, and anyone who wants to better understand the realities of poverty and financial insecurity. Participants are encouraged to bring a dry food good or personal hygiene care product for Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd's pantry.
