By Veritas Alumni Board: College Success Committee
Online event

Overview

Join us for a virtual workshop where we'll help you navigate your academic journey and plan for success in college!

Are you thinking about what you want to study in college—or how your major might shape future career or grad-school opportunities? 🎓📈 You’re invited to Designing Your Academic Journey, a virtual workshop hosted by the Veritas Alumni Association College Readiness Committee on December 7th from 6:00–7:30 PM ET for high school students and early college students. 💻✨

In this workshop, you will:

  • Understand how college majors connect to real career and postgraduate outcomes: Learn how different fields align with industries, skills, salary trends, and pathways like law, medicine, business, and consulting through a 30-minute live Q&A panel with Veritas alumni. 💼🏥⚖️📊
  • Explore a real college course catalog: Get a clear picture of what various majors actually study, including course sequences, prerequisites, and department expectations. 📚🔍
  • Receive personalized advising to build your own four-year academic plan: Work directly with Veritas alumni to outline major/minor requirements, AP/IB credits, internships, research, study abroad, and timelines for exams such as the MCAT or LSAT. 📝🌍🎓
  • Reflect on your strengths and interests: Use guided prompts to identify what you naturally excel at and what environments or problems you’re drawn to. 💭

Alumni Panel 🎤🌟You’ll also hear from Veritas alumni across fields—law, medicine, statistics, finance, international affairs—who will share their academic journeys and answer questions live:

  • Jordyn Allen – Harvard Law School, J.D. Candidate ⚖️
  • Alexis Ihezue – University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, B.A. in Statistics 📊
  • Jordan Thomas – Southern Methodist University, B.S. in Economics 💵
