5 Pillars of Storytelling

Oriented as a series of writing workshops, we explore five pillars of fundamentals in storytelling, different tools to construct them, and space to practice and draft the content. These workshops are free to all who wish to attend, and aim to impart you with the truth that your story is worth telling.

The Character Shaping (Who) Workshop

Every world is filled with the people who shape it, who exert control or gently guide it, and them and their motivations are what makes the story relatable to us. Characters lead the story in that way, and they speak with voices imagined as much as those that are true. Pantheon Arts spotlights the silhouetted shapes of these fellows at The Paladin’s League on Thursday during Geek Week PDX 2025.

Who makes up this world we are building, though? Who gives it that voice to reach out across time and space and connect with us in this real world, and, how do we make them stand out in a world full of distraction? Sussing out motivations, filling in character details using a variety of methods, and even building out a short scene with dialogue are all features to look forward to!

Together with the next workshop, these two cornerstone pillars are where the essence of the story lies. So, whether your aim is to start small with archetypes or find the forlorn kernel that has been missing from your character’s truth, seek us out at Paladin’s League on and begin to carve the final parts of the statue away to display the masterpiece beneath.

Sign Up, Learn a Way to Tell Stories
