Change Up! Culture Shifting Community Meetings and the CMB
Event Information
Description
This is the 4th webinar in our series put together by facilitators across the ALC Network as an introduction to the philosophy, tools, and practices from our self-directed education communities. It is our hope that the content offered in these sessions will be useful to families adapting to having kids unable to physically attend their usual learning centers, schools, and other facilitated meetups. Profits from registrations will go to supporting awesome facilitators in continuing to offer online support and sessions even as covid-19 closures of centers and side-hustle spaces strain folks' finances.
Since we learn from our context and shape the culture of our spaces by how we 'be' in them, taking intentional time to make the implicit explicit can transform the learning experiences we're having. How does the way we show up impact the culture of our space? If we want something different or better, what can we change to make that happen? And in a diverse community where we're problem solving together, how to we design, choose, reflect on, and adapt our experiments in culture shifting?
This webinar is hosted by Ryan Shollenberger (he/him). Ryan is one of the original ALFs and a co-founder of ALC. His background in education includes several degrees and time teaching in a variety of environments, but he would rather been known for his youthful exuberance and the way he relates to kids. At ALC-NYC you might find him hosting a round of Geoguessr, building Pokémon teams, or facilitating a Maths offering.
