This one-day, hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of turning logs into usable lumber with a chainsaw mill. Through a mix of classroom discussion and live demonstrations, you’ll learn about safety, equipment choices, log handling, milling techniques, and the first steps in drying lumber. Participants will gain insight into different types of mills, chainsaws, and logs, while discovering the satisfaction of producing their own slabs, timbers, and cookies. The highlight of the day is guided milling practice, where you’ll set up and make your own cuts under expert supervision. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with practical skills, a strong foundation in safe milling practices, and the confidence to start your own chainsaw milling projects.
