CFP ® Board CE: Implementing the Advice-Only™ Methodology
Overview
Implementing the Advice Only™ Methodology in Financial Planning
Join us in San Francisco on October 30, 2025, at 12:00 PM (Pacific Time) for a live CFP® CE–eligible session on applying the Advice-Only™ methodology within the CFP ® financial planning process.
This instructor-led workshop explores how to implement an Advice-Only service model that structurally separates financial advice from all forms of sales (i.e., product sales, commissions, and referral incentives). Using real-world case studies and comparisons to the CFP ® Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, participants will learn how to:
- Integrate the Advice-Only™ four-stage planning sequence with the CFP® seven-step process (understanding circumstances, developing and presenting recommendations, implementing, and monitoring).
- Identify conflicts of interest and design engagements consistent with fiduciary duty (Standard A.1).
- Demonstrate how standardized, modular advice delivery can support client understanding, documentation, and ongoing monitoring.
- Evaluate best practices for transparent fee disclosure, privacy protection, and ethical implementation.
Whether you’re an educator, planner, or firm principal, this course provides actionable guidance to enhance compliance, transparency, and client outcomes within an Advice-Only fiduciary framework.
