Overview
This is one of several 'CERT Refresher' classes offered to help you stay current with what you learned in your original training.
This is part of an ongoing series of CERT Refresher Trainings
Topics to include:
Fire Safety & Prevention:
- Explain the role of CERTs in fire safety and prevention.
- Identify and mitigate fire and utility hazards in homes and workplaces.
- Implement effective fire prevention strategies.
Fire Extinguishment:
- Operate a portable fire extinguisher correctly.
- Understand fire chemistry, classes of fire, and how to choose the correct extinguisher.
Fire Size-Up:
- Understand the CERT size-up process to evaluate situations.
- Conduct a basic size-up for a fire emergency, considering risks and resources.
Hazardous Materials:
- Identify hazardous materials in the community and home to reduce risks.
Safety Precautions:
- Understand and implement safety precautions, including the use of a buddy system and backup teams.
- Safely shut off utilities.
- Know the minimum safety precautions for various emergency situations.
'Fire Safety and Utility Control' will be held in English during a single ZOOM session.
