About this event
Celtic knotwork isn't just art—it's a language. This course teaches you how to read it.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to analyze, decode, and reconstruct the intricate beauty of structured Celtic knot designs—those based on circles, rectangles, triangles, or other defined forms.
We’ll be working from real-life examples and treating each as a puzzle: how was it built? What can we learn from its structure? And how can we rebuild it—faithfully, or with our own creative twist?
Designed as a companion to Celtic Knots Unraveled, this workshop is all about empowering you to move beyond tracing or imitation. You’ll gain the skills to recreate the knots you love, and the confidence to adapt or reinvent them in your own work.
Highlights of what you’ll learn:
- Analyze and reconstruct complex knots found in manuscripts, carvings, and other art forms
- Reverse-engineer structured knot designs without templates
- Distinguish between freeform and structured knotwork (this course focuses on the latter)
- Build your own library of construction strategies that you can reuse and adapt
- Move from admiration to authorship: turn inspiration into original work
PREREQUISITE:
This course is designed for students who have already completed Celtic Knots Unraveled. If you haven’t taken that course, or are unsure whether your prior experience is sufficient, please contact the instructor before registering.
