About this event

Other

The Angeles National Forest, National Forest Foundation, REC, Leave No Trace, and Fisheries Resource Volunteer Corps are hosting volunteers at the Wildwood Picnic Site to Clean, Care, and Connect on National Public Lands Day by conducting habitat restoration, improving recreation areas, and giving back to our public lands. This event will take place on Saturday, September 27, from 8:00am-12:00pm. On-site registration will begin at 8:00am and we will kick-off the event around 9:00am. There will be a provided lunch from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Tasks include cleaning up litter, painting over graffiti, washing tables and grills, and restoring natural habitats by removing user-created dams along the river. Reservations are required, as space is limited!

Important event information:

  • Volunteers will meet in the Wildwood Picnic Site parking lot. All participants are encouraged to carpool as parking is limited.
  • Coffee and snacks will be provided during registration at 8:00am.
  • Lunch will be provided from 12:00-1:00pm. Please note any dietary restrictions when you register.
  • Please be prepared to work outside and get dirty. Bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, clothes for varying weather conditions, close-toed shoes, and a desire to give back to your public lands.
  • If you will participate in habitat restoration work, you will be required to wade in water and get wet. Please bring closed-toed water shoes and a long-sleeved shirt.
  • If you participate in painting, plan on wearing clothes that you don't mind possibly getting dirty with wet paint.
  • Tools may be limited so feel free to bring your own masks, grabbers, buckets, gloves, etc. with you.
  • Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a signed consent form. Please complete sections 3-19 and 28-35 of the following form and email it to sm.fs.anfvolunteers@usda.gov: https://www.fs.usda.gov/sites/default/files/OF-301a-Volunteer-Service-Agreement-expires-10-31-24.pdf. The parent or legal guardian must sign all forms, including section 34 and 36.

If you have any questions, please contact John Cho, Volunteer Coordinator for the Angeles National Forest, at John.Cho@usda.gov. We will share additional information as we get closer to the event.
