DON SCHAPIRA, Q.Med, PM, CDS
Don Schapira is the founder of Fresh Start Mediation, established in 2014 with the belief that there is a better way to navigate conflicts in the Family Room, Board Room, and Class Room. Don leverages his deep financial expertise from over 15 years on Bay Street to provide the best models for a fresh start. He is dedicated to equipping clients with the information they need to make informed financial decisions during transitions.
Don’s journey is marked by his commitment to continuous learning and excellence. He has honed his mediation skills through prestigious institutions like Harvard, Cornell, and Northwestern University. With a track record of helping hundreds of families reach healthy resolutions, Don has developed a balanced and successful approach to mediation.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Don is passionately involved in charitable work within his community. He actively supports organizations such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Peer Mediation and Skills Training, and Businesses For Calgary Kids.
In his dedication to advancing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Don serves as the main presenter and former Chair of the Conflict Resolution Day Committee, offering valuable communication training to Canadians. He has also worked with ADRIA as the Calgary Representative, served on the Board of the Alberta Family Mediation Society for multiple years, and acted as Executive Director for the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society, hosting a national convention in collaboration with ADRIC and AFMS during COVID.
