*The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA) are promoters of the CCIF 2020 Summits.

You’re invited to CCIF’s 2020 Summits, during which state regulators, consumer advocates, and electric company reps from across the U.S. will participate in a facilitated roundtable discussion of regulatory and public policy issues associated with energy grid resilience.

Topic Description. Changes are occurring that will continue to impact the way that electricity is produced, delivered, used, and managed both by electric companies and customers in the future. The electric power sector, and its many stakeholders, must prepare now to tackle the challenges that will be presented by an ever-evolving energy mix, a changing climate, and extreme weather events. As part of this process, regulators, consumer advocates, and electric companies will discuss how best to identify needs and plan for a more resilient energy future. What types of investments are needed to ensure the continued provision of safe, affordable, reliable, and increasingly clean and resilient energy for customers, and how should those investments be planned, coordinated, and ultimately recovered?

Expectations. Each summit will begin by 9 AM on Day 1 (with a hot breakfast before), conclude by 2 PM on Day 2, and be held in a convenient conference hotel (additional hotel details to be provided following registration). Meals will be provided. All participants are encouraged to engage in the facilitated roundtable dialogue but are not expected to prepare remarks. Following the 3-summit series, CCIF will produce a report based on key takeaways and any consensus reached by participants.

Registration. Please register for Summit 3 using the green button above and hold the dates on your calendar. There are no registration fees, and all 3 CCIF Summits are funded by Edison Electric Institute (EEI).

Stipends/Reimbursement. A limited number of stipends to cover reasonable travel expenses (flight, hotel, cab) for participating state commissioners, consumer advocates, and NARUC & NASUCA staff are available from EEI for 1 of the 3 CCIF 2020 Summits. Please indicate interest in such a stipend during registration, and more information will be provided thereafter to help determine eligibility in light of any applicable ethics policies, rules, or statutes.

If you'd like to attend additional summits in 2020, please indicate such willingness and any preferences during the registration process (recognizing that in most cases, stipends are limited to 1 summit per eligible participant).

About CCIF. The Critical Consumer Issues Forum (CCIF) is an initiative that brings together three core groups – state utility commissioners, consumer advocates, and electric company representatives – for collaboration, candid dialogue, and often consensus-building on a number of energy topics (grid modernization, distributed generation, etc.). See the CCIF website for more information about CCIF, including our past reports.
