Have you been wanting to try musical improv, and need to know the basics of song structure to get ahead of the curve? Or perhaps you're on a team, but have to level up your song creation skills? This 2019 CCCFest workshop - from NYC headliners Xplōd - will arm you with all the knowledge you need. Held upstairs at Zissimos Bar, Why Don’t You Sing About It will take you to a whole new level of comfort with singing while improvising!

Whether you’ve done musical theater your whole life or simply walked around listening to a song pretending it was the soundtrack to your movie, we’ve all felt the power of emotion in music. In this 2.5 hr workshop, Xplōd will teach some of the basic song structures that originated from N.Y.C., giving you all the tools you need to break out into song at the emotional height of every scene. Previous improv experience recommended but not required, but an open-minded dedication to silliness and fun is both recommended AND required.

Xplōd: You can find the team performing regularly at their base in NYC, while also traveling across the country teaching workshops and performing in comedy festivals. Most recently, they appeared at the Musical Improv Festival at Chicago’s iO Theater. Full of genuine love, high energy, and abundant harmonies, the cast includes some of NYC’s top actors, musicians, and comedians. Individual credits include: NY Magnet House Team Performers at the esteemed Musical Megawatt, Off Broadway and Regional Theater Work, residencies teaching Musical Theater in South Korea, composers of various new musicals and original music, credits in national commercials and feature films. Xplōd performer Amelita Lijek is also headlining the Charm City Comedy Festival! A comedic musician, her solo work has been performed in comedy festivals across the Country and in Canada.
