What are Master Classes?

Master Classes are workshops and learning opportunities co-hosted by Cathay and our partners in Hong Kong and other GBA cities. Master Classes provides unique opportunities for you to learn more about the aviation industry, utilise cutting-edge technology, and sharpen your entrepreneurial skills.

What is new in Cathay Hackathon 2025?

Both students and Cathay staff will gather together for the Development Day, First and Final Pitch. You will have the opportunity to interact with our staff, gaining insights and inspiration from first-hand aviation experience. Students and staff will not compete with each other for fairness.

Question 3

Can I apply to Cathay Hackathon 2025？

Accepted Answer

Any tertiary student or a recent graduate within the past 2 years that are born on or before 26 September 2009 is eligible to join the Cathay Hackathon 2025.

Question 4

Can I apply to Cathay Hackathon without having a team formed?

Accepted Answer

Individual applicants are welcome to join and may form teams via the self-pairing platform after submission. All teams must be formed by 26 September. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Applicants are strongly encouraged to sign up early to allow sufficient time for team pairing.

What should I do if I want to edit/withdraw my application?

If you would like to edit or withdraw your application, please send an email to hackathon@cathaypacific.com with your Application ID, full name, email address, and contact number to notify us.

Question 6

I have submitted my individual application, but have found a team now, what should I do?

Accepted Answer

Please resubmit your application as a team and notify us with your details to cancel your individual application. If you wish to join a registered team, please let the team leader email us requesting the addition with your Application ID, ensuring the role you will be taking is clearly stated.

Question 7

When will I know if my application is successful?

Successful applicants will be notified around 1 week after the application period ends.

Question 8

Can my team consist of both students and Cathay’s internal staff members?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, it is not possible due to the separate tracks of competition for students and internal staff.

Question 9

Can I participate in the on-day event (Development Day, First Pitch and Final Pitch) virtually?

In-person attendance will be required for both the First Pitch and the Final Pitch. The First Pitch will both be held in Cathay City in Hong Kong. Failure to attend in-person will result in your team’s disqualification.

Question 10

What language can I pitch in?

You can choose to pitch in either English, Putonghua, or Cantonese during the application period. Your deliverables will also need to correspond to your chosen pitching language. You will not be allowed to change your pitching language after the application period.

Question 11

What should I do if I do not have the travel documents/ a visa to Hong Kong?

Accepted Answer

All participants are individually responsible for obtaining the relevant travel documents and/or permits needed to take part in the Cathay Hackathon. Cathay will not provide or assist in any requests to gain travel documents and/or permits.

Question 12

Will my travel expenses be covered?

Accepted Answer

All travel expenses and application fees, including but not limited to air travel, visa fees and accommodation, will be borne by the participants at their own expense. We will offer free meals and amenities to participants on 15 - 16 November 2025.
