Dr. Helen Jiang, Associate Professor from UTRGV will conduct the workshop virtually. The objectives for the workshop are:


  1. Identify core cultural values, communication styles, and family dynamics within Chinese families that influence help-seeking behaviors and social work engagement.
  2. Analyze ethical dilemmas that may arise when working with Chinese American clients and apply culturally responsive strategies grounded in the NASW Code of Ethics.
  3. Demonstrate culturally competent and ethically sound approaches to case management involving mental health, caregiving, and grief through case-based discussion and practical application.
